Respite Care (including Sleepover)

It's always a tough decision to make when you know you need a break from caring for your loved one, but don't want to put them into a care facility. There are many personal reasons for not wanting to use care facilities, and the next best option is respite care in your own home. Unfortunately it can be horrendously expensive, particularly if you are dealing with an agency that needs to factor administration costs into their fee and pay their staff by the hour.

It's also difficult to place a value on 'care'.
Whilst we want to respect and value the time and energy of an external caregiver, paying by the hour is unaffordable for most.
In light of this, I have a set a 24hr flat fee for one on one care in the comfort of ones own home while you take a well deserved break or the weekend off for some rest and recovery.

NB: Rates will vary if the shift includes a wakeover.
Companionship

Companionship helps to alleviate loneliness. We all need social connection to feel less isolated and more included in society.
This is difficult if you are stuck at home without the means to travel, or family and friends are too far away or busy with their own lives.
Let's jump in the car, go grab a coffee (or beer - you not me, because I'm driving!) and sit down by the beach, park, feed the ducks, visit the museum, walk down memory lane, go to church, 'people watch', play dominos (or whatever else it is that tickles your fancy - within reason of course ie; no sky diving or bungy jumping ...... sorry). Or, if you have a lot of energy, all of the above! It's up to you what we do.

Companionship can also serve as respite care. Let me take your loved one out while you put your feet up and have a cup of tea or get a few hours much needed sleep.
Dementia Care

I am an experienced dementia caregiver, having spent time in the homes of clients living with dementia and working in a specialised dementia care unit. This is a special population that needs not just ordinary, but extraordinary care. Extra patience, extra time, extra attention, extra compassion and love. When working with clients living with dementia, I work at their pace. There is no rushing, or hurrying to get things done. We work through the day together, doing what is comfortable and familiar to them.
My first priority is always health and safety, and so I am always thinking ahead to avoid incidents and accidents. My second priority is happiness and contentment. If my client has had most, if not all of their senses stimulated, then they have lived another good day.
 Sleepovers / Wakeovers

Do you have an elderly parent or loved one that you worry about at night?  Would you prefer knowing that someone they trust is in the house with them to deal with any unexpected mishaps throughout the night, or just to reassure them that they have company and are safe? This service will ensure peace of mind for yourself and your loved one. The sleepover allows for 2 or less calls.

When does a sleepover turn into a wakeover? When there are 3 or more calls from a client, this requires the caregiver to be awake for the shift (just like the night shift for a nurse at a hospital. This is reflected in the service fee.
